About Us

Big Al’s Carponents was founded in 1986, a natural offshoot of a lifetime interest in custom cars, street rods, drag racing and drag boat racing. Nick Cirino (aka Big Al) first discovered fast cars while in high school. He moved from the early street rods into drag racing at the early Southern California strips (Irwindale, Lions, Colton, Pomona and Fomosa drag strip in Bakersfield. He and his partner, Frank Groves, successfully ran the Durfee Roadster on these tracks in the late 1950’s, early 1960’s.

After the Durfee Roadster was retired, Nick moved back into street rods and custom cars, then back into top fuel drag boat racing during the 1970’s. The boat “Warlock” held it’s own in the competitive field of Southern California racing. Once the drag boat was retired, Nick once again returned to the drag strip with a top fuel dragster. After leaving drag racing, Nick once again turned to Street Rodding and Big Al’s was born.

We lost Nick to a short illness in June 2006. His wife, Nancy Cirinio, is now managing Big Al’s. Our company will continue to manufacture and distribute fine quality machined accessories not only for Street Rods, but also for Early and Late Model Custom and Specialty Cars and Trucks.
